SCOPE Launches Grassroots Training Program: Computer 101

scope computer room

On Thursday, March 19th SCOPE held the first of a series of trainings which they
will be offering their grassroots members and leaders. The Computer 101
hands-on workshop covered the essentials to introducing folks to
computer basics like how to access the SCOPE website and other key
sites; how to establish an email account; and computer security do’s and
don’ts.

The session goals were to increase participant’s computer knowledge and
comfort level, introduce them to basic internet tools and to give them
the opportunity to establish an email address, and to familiar
participants with SCOPE’s computer room guidelines.

The 14 participants were very excited about the FREE training
opportunities and the access to the computer room. They are
enthusiastic about increasing their computer skills in order to improve
their personal lives and to increase their contribution to SCOPE by
volunteering their skills.

They will be repeating the Computer 101 workshop on a regular basis in
order to give all members and leaders the opportunity to attend the
class. Other future basic trainings will include…

Word
PowerPoint
Excel
Computer and Internet Security
Internet Research Methods
Basic GIS
